FMP Group is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Operations Manager to lead our Edmonton Mechanical Services operations. This is a working leadership position responsible for operational execution, business development, client retention, and overall branch performance.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving growth across Alberta while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. This position requires a leader who is equally comfortable meeting with clients, developing opportunities, preparing estimates, supporting project execution, and managing field personnel.
Our Mechanical Services include Field Machining, Technical Bolting, Heat Treatment, Leak Repair, Hot Tapping, Composite Repairs, Line Freezing, Hydrotesting, Combustion Services, Turnarounds, and Facility Maintenance.
Position Overview
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and growth of the Edmonton operation. This role serves as the primary link between clients, field operations, project planning, and business development activities.
Success in this position will be measured by safety performance, operational execution, revenue growth, client retention, workforce development, and profitability.

What you get to do:
Operations Leadership
- Lead daily operations and project execution activities.
- Manage field personnel, supervisors, subcontractors, and support staff.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources to support project requirements.
- Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to client expectations.
- Support estimating, planning, scheduling, and project startup activities.
- Monitor project performance, productivity, utilization, and profitability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation.
- Maintain compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Identify new business opportunities within refineries, oil sands, petrochemical facilities, power generation, and other industrial markets.
- Conduct client visits and participate in industry networking activities.
- Support proposal preparation, estimating, and bid submissions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to achieve revenue growth objectives.
- Develop account growth strategies for key clients.
Client Retention & Account Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for key client accounts.
- Maintain regular communication with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify future opportunities.
- Resolve operational and service-related concerns promptly and professionally.
- Foster long-term client relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and execution.
- Support contract renewals and ongoing service agreements.
- Ensure FMP Group consistently delivers value and exceeds client expectations.

What we're looking for:
- 10+ years of experience in industrial services, maintenance, construction, or specialty mechanical services.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in operations, project management, or field supervision.
- Proven business development and client relationship management experience.
- Strong understanding of refinery, petrochemical, oil sands, and heavy industrial environments.
- Experience managing project execution, workforce planning, scheduling, and cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to grow revenue and develop long-term client relationships.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Alberta as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in Field Machining, Technical Bolting, Heat Treatment, Leak Repair, or related specialty mechanical services.
- Turnaround and outage management experience.
- Technical trade certification, engineering background, or project management designation.
- Existing network of industrial contacts within Alberta’s energy and industrial sectors.
