Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, this position provides a wide range of moderately complex administrative duties in support of professional staff, clients, and the Stollery Pediatric Cardiology Program. The position requires an experienced individual with excellent interpersonal, telephone, and organizational skills along with Medical Secretarial background. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a busy multitasking environment that includes managing physician calendars, arranging meetings, supporting a weekly surgical conference, taking minutes and transcription, booking interviews, filing and other clerical duties as required. Additional Required Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Medical Secretary in a hospital-based setting is required. Familiarity with Connect Care, Netcare, and WCCHN is essential. Applicants must possess excellent typing speed (65–75 WPM) and intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook. Strong time management and multitasking skills are required, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage frequent interruptions. Excellent interpersonal, telephone, organizational, and teamwork skills are essential. This position provides support and coordination for multiple physicians and subspecialty clinics, along with other administrative duties as required. A commitment to Patient and Family Centered Care, reflecting AHS values, is expected. Cross-training to other areas within the Stollery Children’s Hospital may be required. Completion of a Medical Office Assistant, Office Administration, or Secretarial program is required; equivalent Medical Secretary experience may be considered. Self-direction, adaptability, flexibility, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently are essential. Proven reliability, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to meet deadlines are required. Physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Medical terminology essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of hospital systems and physician calendar management preferred.
