Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, with a commitment to providing exceptional veterinary services. This role plays an important part in supporting veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures while ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of our patients.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by providing support and preparing necessary equipment.
Perform routine laboratory procedures, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate medical records.
Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and recovery.
Maintain sterile conditions using proper aseptic techniques.
Safely restrain animals during examinations and treatments.
Educate pet owners on pet care, nutrition, and preventative health practices.
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the clinic, including treatment areas and kennels.
Handle a variety of animals with care and professionalism, including dogs, cats, and equines.

Qualifications & Experience

Full Registered Veterinary License with the ABVMA is required.
Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician is preferred.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
Experience with animal handling, restraint, catheter placement, and dental terminology.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment.
Experience in veterinary critical care is considered an asset.
Background in kennel management or pet grooming is beneficial.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong communication skills and a passion for animal welfare.
