About Vital Asset Risk Management
Vital Asset Risk Management provides specialized security, investigation and risk-management services throughout Alberta. Our services include monitored CCTV systems, construction-site security, incident response, theft investigations, private investigations and client security support.
We are seeking a reliable and experienced individual to take responsibility for our field security operations in Edmonton. This opportunity may be particularly well suited to a retired or former police officer who wants flexible, meaningful work while continuing to use their operational, investigative and client-service experience.
Position Overview
The Edmonton Security Operations Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day servicing and support of our Edmonton security program. The position combines fieldwork, client liaison, CCTV system maintenance, incident response and follow-up investigations.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently, solve problems in the field and represent Vital Asset Risk Management professionally with clients, police agencies and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend client properties throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area.
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and reposition cellular CCTV cameras.
- Charge, replace and manage batteries used in solar-powered camera systems.
- Install and adjust cameras, solar panels, mounting equipment and related hardware.
- Safely use ladders, basic hand tools and power tools.
- Maintain accurate records of camera locations, equipment movements, maintenance and completed work.
- Respond to security incidents and attend client sites when required.
- Liaise with clients regarding security concerns, camera placement, incidents and operational requirements.
- Review surveillance footage and preserve relevant video evidence.
- Conduct follow-up investigations into thefts, break-ins, suspicious activity and other incidents.
- Obtain statements and relevant information when required.
- Prepare clear, professional incident and investigative reports.
- Communicate with police and assist clients with reporting and investigative follow-up.
- Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend practical improvements.
- Help coordinate and manage the overall delivery of Vital Asset Risk Management’s services in Edmonton.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous policing, military, security, investigative or related operational experience is strongly preferred.
- Retired and former police officers are encouraged to apply.
- Strong judgment, professionalism and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
- Mechanically inclined and capable of completing basic equipment installations and repairs.
- Comfortable using CCTV systems, mobile applications, computers and other technology.
- Physically capable of carrying equipment and safely climbing and working from ladders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to communicate professionally with clients, contractors, police and members of the public.
- Valid Alberta driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record.
- Alberta Security Services Worker Licence, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
- An Alberta Private Investigator Licence is considered an asset.
Vehicle Requirements
The preferred candidate will have access to a reliable vehicle capable of carrying cameras, batteries, ladders, tools and other equipment. Mileage will be paid when a personal vehicle is used for business purposes.
Not having a suitable vehicle is not necessarily a barrier. Alternative arrangements, including the use of a company-provided or rental vehicle, may be considered for the right candidate.
Employment Arrangement
This position will initially provide a minimum of approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to approximately 35 hours as operations grow. The successful candidate must be available to provide support five days per week, although the daily schedule may vary according to operational requirements.
An independent-contractor arrangement is preferred, but an employment arrangement may also be considered based on the successful candidate’s circumstances and the needs of the business.
Some evening, nighttime or weekend work may occasionally be required in response to security incidents or urgent client needs.

- $35-$40 per hour - depending on experience.
