Service Technician – Join a Team That Keeps Industry Moving
Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on troubleshooting, precision, and delivering top-tier service? Summit Valve is looking for a Service Technician who takes pride in their craftsmanship and wants to work with industry-leading valve and automation systems.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting both our Technical Services and Inside Sales teams by delivering expert service and technical support to our customers and internal teams.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Speaking with clients and operators to understand their water distribution and wastewater systems
- Developing and building preventative maintenance plans tailored to each client’s needs
- Quoting field jobs and accurately estimating labor time for valve repair or replacement
- Procuring parts with support from the Service Coordinator and Inside Sales team
- Scheduling field service work directly with customers
- Performing repairs to Summit service standards and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Completing detailed post-job reports and invoicing (with Service Coordinator support)
- Maintaining service trucks, including cleanliness, maintenance, and inventory management
Technical Responsibilities
- Valve automation (pneumatic, electric, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic)
- Valve repair and maintenance
- Instrumentation troubleshooting, configuration, and calibration
- Panel fabrication
- Hydro testing valves and assemblies
- Servicing municipal and industrial valve systems
You’ll ensure all work is completed in accordance with our Quality Management System (QMS)—because at Summit Valve, precision and quality matter.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in a service technician or similar role
- Valid Class 5 Canadian Driver’s License
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and fluid dynamics
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- ERP/CRM experience is an asset
- Comfortable working with a variety of technical software tools
Work Environment & Requirements
- Comfortable traveling to remote locations across Alberta and BC, often for multiple days
- Willingness to work in tight spaces and perform confined space entry
- Ability to support after-hours calls and emails
- Participation in an on-call rotation (every 3 weeks)
- Weekend work may be required
Experienced Service Technicians will be compensated competitively based on their background and skillset.
