The Opportunity

This is a permanent 0.3 FTE in Salmon Arm and a permanent position 0.4 FTE in Vernon
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Clinical Dietitian provides high quality nutrition support to Long Term Care/Complex Care residents. The Clinical Dietitian is primarily responsible for nutrition and dysphagia assessments, and development and maintenance of a nutrition care plan for residents, taking into account the resident’s needs and values while using the best evidence available to make decisions. The Clinical Dietitian advocates for residents to ensure they receive optimal nutrition and hydration care by providing education to residents, families and staff as needed while participating or initiating nutrition-focused quality improvement/assurance activities.
A university degree in Food and Nutrition including current, active registration with the Provincial College of Dietitians (Alberta or British Columbia). Restricted Activity A through the College of Dietitians of BC (BC Dietitians only). Additional training in dysphagia and strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) are also reqiured. Sound clinical nutrition knowledge and skills in areas relevant to eldercare. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner. Health related work experience, primarily in the long-term care field is required.

Requirements:
- A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and Clearance Letter prior to the hire date.
- A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
