Position Summary

DCM Integrated Solutions Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Inspector (Level II) to support quality control and quality documentation activities on an active industrial construction project. This is a hands-on, documentation-intensive quality role. Approximately 65–75% of the position is dedicated to quality document management, with the balance spent on field inspection support across welding, structural, piping, package boiler, and bolted-connection scope.

Strong computer skills are essential, as computer work is a substantial part of this job. The successful candidate spends most of the day scanning, filing, and uploading records to Hexagon SmartPlant Completions, and assembling turnover documentation for record retention and turnover in accordance with the ABSA and ASME quality program requirements and the DCM Quality Control Manual.

The role works under and supports the project Quality Control program, reporting to the Quality Control Lead on matters relating to quality, and helping ensure inspection and test records are generated progressively as work is executed and that the documentation package remains audit-ready and turnover-ready at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Document Management (65–75% of role)

Scan, file, and upload inspection and quality records to Hexagon SmartPlant Completions.

Assemble and compile turnover documents for record retention and turnover in accordance with ABSA / ASME quality program requirements and the DCM Quality Control Manual (Section 33 – Records Retention). Typical records include ITPs, Material Test Reports / certifications, welder qualification and continuity records, NDE reports, heat treatment and PWHT records, pressure test records, non-conformances and dispositions, the project signature log, and as-built drawings.

Maintain turnover documentation current with the project throughout the construction phases so packages remain ready for handover and audit at any time.

Assist in maintaining, logging, and tracking the progress of completed Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) against completed sheets. ITRs span ALL disciplines on the project – including mechanical, piping, structural steel, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and coating / preservation. Logs maintained include:

Welder Qualification Log

Welder Continuity Log

Bolted Connection Log

NCR (Non-Conformance Report) Log

ITR Log

Verify that ITRs are completed, signed, and documented progressively with work progress, and reconcile open versus closed records against the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) or pressure-piping examination checklist requirements for each discipline, per the DCM Quality Control Manual.

Support the QC team in keeping NDE / weld logs and material traceability records accurate and up to date.

Maintain accurate, retrievable electronic filing so records can be located quickly for client, ABSA, and Authorized Inspector review.

Inspection Support

Weld inspection.

Inspection experience with structural steel, piping, and package boilers.

Bolted connection inspection and verification.

Preservation of equipment – verify and document preservation and storage requirements are maintained.

Review received technical drawings and specifications prior to work execution to confirm the correct, current revision is in use.

Support material receiving – inspect received material for damage and assist in verifying Material Test Reports (MTRs) and generating Material Receiving Reports.

Perform and document in-process and final visual inspection of fit-up and completed work to confirm compliance with applicable codes, client specifications, and the WPS, and record the results.

Confirm monitoring and measuring equipment is calibrated to the DCM Quality Manual or client specification, whichever is more stringent.

Notify the client and/or Authorized Inspector (AI) of upcoming ITP hold and witness points sufficiently in advance for them to attend.

Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required; ensure non-conforming material is identified, segregated, and held until the deficiency is corrected in accordance with the approved disposition, and support the corrective-action process through to closure.

Participate in audits performed by the DCM corporate office, the client, and jurisdictional authorities.

This is NOT an In-Service Inspector position.

This is NOT an Owner Representative position.

In-Service certification and API certification would be considered an asset, but are NOT required and are NOT a replacement for a CWB Level II Welding Inspector certification.

Required Qualifications

Quality Certification

CWB Level II Welding Inspector (required).

Bolted connection training.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience working as a CWB Level II Welding Inspector.

Skills & Abilities

Ability to work under minimal supervision and in fast-paced environments.

Ability to read engineering drawings, including blueprints, general arrangements, and isometrics.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents – codes, client specifications, quality manuals, welding procedures, and OEM manuals.

Strong written and verbal communication, planning, organization, and attention to detail.

Highly organized with electronic records and document control – accuracy and consistency are critical.

Computer Skills

Strong computer skills are required – computer work is a major part of this job. The successful candidate is proficient with:

Microsoft Outlook.

Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft SharePoint – training through an external provider preferred.

Hexagon SmartPlant Completions experience (strong asset).
