Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort St John is located above the Peace River Valley, and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. Practice Details:

Northern Health is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologist in Fort St John, British Columbia, to join a team of two radiologists. Excellent work life balance. No call. Flexibility for a 0.5 to 1.0 FTE position. Blend of on site and remote work. We offer flexible vacation scheduling.

Prospective Radiologists MUST be proficient in mammography and basic image guided procedures. Modalities available include Fluoroscopy, ultrasound, mammography, CT, and MRI.

Candidates must hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in radiology (FRCPC) and be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).

Potential additional income in the Northeast region includes covering a planned CT scanner in Fort Nelson, and vacation coverage of Dawson Creek.

Fort St John Hospital is a state-of-the-art 55 bed hospital and 123 bed residential care facility serving a population of approximately 25,000 and a catchment area of approximately 70,000. The Emergency Room sees 25,000+ visits per year.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway! Affordable new housing, short commutes, and a young and growing population (average age is 31) make Fort St John an ideal place to call home.

Fort St John is the cultural and commercial hub of Northeast BC, with a performing and visual arts centre, library, art gallery and theatre, and numerous restaurants, cafés.

Medical degree
Candidates with FRCPC will be given priority. Interest in Mammography is mandatory. Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License: Full Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC): Mandatory Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC): Eligible Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA): Mandatory

Call Schedule:

Hours of work: 0800 -1700 Monday to Friday
On call requirements: None

Recruitment Incentive: $20,000
Retention Flat Fee: $33,629
Retention Premium: 21.70%
Relocation Funding Available: $9,000 - $15,000 (TBD)

The Fort St. John Hospital has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Some more highlights about the hospital:
