ROLE DESCRIPTION
Leading a team of professionals, the Project Manager delivers field and office-based environmental projects across Northern British Columbia and Alberta, coordinating multidisciplinary internal and external teams.
The Project Manager is accountable for delivering on client commitments and protecting brand and financial performance. This role oversees all phases of the project lifecycle—planning, scheduling, costing, and execution—ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
This role includes supervising environmental field staff and driving high-quality results while supporting team development, client relationships, and business growth.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & DELIVERABLES
Deliverable 1: Production
- Maintain a minimum bi-weekly billable rate of 70% of work hours dedicated to project activities, with the remaining 30% allocated to mentoring, professional development, process development, and other non-billable office duties.
Deliverable 2: Budget & Schedule
- Deliver 95% of assigned projects on schedule and within 5% of budget.
- Manage the budget by maintaining a minimum 40% project gross margin.
- The project schedule is managed according to the client contract and includes details on payment dates, order of construction, resource allocation, procurement, critical decision dates, updated project progress, and key project meetings.
- Conduct revisions and obtain final sign-off by all stakeholders regarding scope development.
- Manage project scope through the Change Order (CO) and Request for Information (RFI) processes to avoid scope creep.
- Manage project resources, such as in-house resources and subcontractors, to ensure contractual obligations related to the project deliverables schedule and budget are achieved.
- Conduct revisions and obtain final sign-off by all stakeholders regarding estimate development.
- Use the proper document control processes to manage communication.
Deliverable 3: Client Service
- Client surveys in project status reports must average a score of 8 out of 10. Any score of less than 8 triggers a call from the company owner.
- Confirm client meetings are taking place as per the schedule agreed upon in the client contract. Format client meetings to reflect the company guidelines.
- Manage all progress reports, updating according to contract schedule and issuing them to all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure subcontractors and employees are communicating with clients professionally and politely.
- Pursue an efficient and timely project closure to ensure referrals and positive reviews are given within the project community.
Deliverable 4: Administrative Tracking Systems
- Maintain daily data entry in the company’s administrative and project tracking systems and complete 100%, including:
- Harvest – time and expense entry system
- FieldShare – project management system
- WorkHub – health and safety management system
- SharePoint – document management system
- Othe systems as required
- Contribute to 10+ technical improvements or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) annually.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with receiving contractual payments from clients.
- Obtain client acknowledgement with signature on estimate, schedule, Change Orders, and budget.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and communication plan.
- Lead team meetings, safety meetings, and submit all required safety documentation to the Office Manager.
- Update cost code items every two weeks in project budgets.
- Complete Work in Progress (WIP) adjustments every two weeks for each project.
Deliverable 5: Training & Professional Development
- Maintain an average 3/5 on Project Manager SOP Competency Models.
- Support positive employee relations and company culture through accountability of employee adherence to policies and procedures.
- Support employees through coaching, professional development, team meetings and Goal Setting and Review (GSR) meetings. Competency Models in each role’s SOPs are the benchmark used to determine where knowledge, skill or training gaps exist in an employee’s development.

- Break down project goals with employees and subcontractors through team meetings and GSR meetings.
- Maintain continuous professional development of project management career through GSR meetings with the company owner, membership(s) in professional organizations recognized in the province of BC, and enrollment in industry related technical courses.
SKILL SET & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional designation (e.g., P.Biol., R.P.Bio., P.Ag., P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration.
- 5+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience including fieldwork, data interpretation, technical writing and reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations and regional Indigenous restoration frameworks.
- History of managing environmental construction and reclamation project phases from planning to completion.
- 3+ years of experience managing projects in the construction industry.
- Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project Management Professional (PMP), or working towards.
- Experience with project management software tools and current technology.
- History of working in the BC oil & gas or northern Canadian resource sector.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Plan, coordinate, and manage environmental field programs, including:
- Construction environmental monitoring
- Remediation and reclamation projects
- First Nations and industry pre-engagement assessments
- Oversee day-to-day project execution
- Track project financial performance, including cost forecasting, invoicing support, and schedule adherence
- Prepare and review technical reports, regulatory submissions, and project documentation
- Supervise environmental monitoring and data collection related to soil, water, wildlife, and vegetation programs
- Manage contractors, subcontractors, and employees in both field and office settings
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior and intermediate staff
- Collaborate with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and project success
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and client engagement
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental standards

- Hourly Rate Range: $46 to $70
- Salary Range Equivalent (before overtime): $95,680 to $145,600
