Position Summary
As a Diamond Driller, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a diamond drill rig to produce core samples for mineral exploration. You’ll lead a small crew, ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures, and maintain high productivity and drill performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate surface or heliportable diamond drill rigs safely and efficiently.
- Supervise and train the drill helper(s) assigned to your crew.
- Monitor drill parameters (pressure, torque, depth, core recovery, etc.) and maintain accurate daily logs.
- Conduct routine mechanical inspections and minor maintenance on drill equipment.
- Maintain clear communication with site supervisors and client representatives.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Rally’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
- Assist with rig moves, setup, and demobilization in remote or rugged terrain.
- Record and report production metrics, equipment issues, and consumable usage.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating surface or underground diamond drills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work rotational shifts in remote locations.
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s licence; valid First Aid, WHMIS, and Fall Protection tickets are assets.
- Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
