HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Surveyor on behalf of one of our clients. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in a mining surveyor role, supported by strong technical capability in open pit mine construction, large‑scale earthworks, drones, quantity tracking, GPS, LiDAR, and orthophoto technology, including both data acquisition and processing.
In this role, you will support safe, efficient mining and construction operations across multiple work fronts. Key responsibilities include conducting field surveys, processing and validating data, preparing reports, updating CAD drawings and GIS systems, maintaining survey equipment, and ensuring all survey activities meet safety and environmental standards. The position will support a blend of turn‑around work at Client sites and full‑time survey activities across the island.
Location: Based anywhere in Newfoundland (preference for Central NL, but not required) Schedule: Full‑time, 40–50 hours/week, Monday–Friday
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct daily drone flights using LiDAR and orthophoto sensors for earthworks and construction tracking.
- Process drone and GPS data to produce point clouds and digital surface models.
- Interpret resulting data to produce accurate volume reports and update site drawings and GIS system accordingly.
- Prepare layouts from CAD drawings and deliver precise and timely surveying layout services to support ongoing mine construction operations.
- Ensure all survey work complies with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Maintain, calibrate, and verify the functionality of all survey equipment.
- Apply industry best practices for survey control to ensure high-accuracy data.
- Conduct field staking, collect spatial data, and perform volume calculations.
- Support design and layout activities, including roads, buildings, and infrastructure.
- Maintain clear, organized, and up-to-date records of all surveying activities.
- Provide accurate spatial data to enhance operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to align survey data with project requirements.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support overall team success.
- Operate GPS equipment and drones for data collection.
- Process survey data, compute volumes, and complete drafting using CAD software.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Survey Technology, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar surveyor role.
- Advanced operations drone pilot certificate preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, PiX4D, Global Mapper.
- Experience working in a remote mining or industrial setting is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
- Excellent knowledge of data collection, survey layout, and drone technology
- Experience and understanding of large-scale earthworks and mine construction operations.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
- Proven problem-solving skills and a collaborative, team-focused attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in varied weather conditions for extended periods.
- Strong technical understanding of survey instruments, tools, and maintenance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
