How will you contribute?
The Archivist is accountable for the conceptualization, implementation and performance of the Senate Archival function/program. As the archival authority within the Senate, the Archivist provides expert authoritative advice, expertise and guidance to ISD management including the Chief Information Officer, as well as the Clerk of the Senate and Parliaments, as required. The Archivist establishes, manages and preserves the Senate’s corporate memory by identifying and assessing information that may be of historical or archival value to the Senate. The Archivist recommends policy changes and best practices and provides strategic and tactical advice to senior management. On the Clerk’s behalf, the Archivist is the official curator and custodian of two sets of Archives, those of the Senate and those of the Parliaments, including all original Acts of Parliament and all Senate institutional documents.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the direction of Information Services.
This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites
- University degree, preferably a master’s degree, in a relevant field (e.g., certificate in archival science, art history, heritage, museum studies);
- A minimum of 7 years of experience regarding the management of archives;
- Extensive experience regarding the preservation and security of institutional archival collections;
- Experience in coordinating and advising on archive-specific projects;
- Experience in providing advice and guidance;
- Experience in monitoring the work of project team members;
- Client service skills to establish service standards and to foster good working relationships with Senators, management and staff;
- Analytical research skills to manipulate and extract information from various sources; to report information; and to prepare presentations;
- Consultation, negotiation and facilitation skills to gain consensus on issues and approaches.
