Position Summary
Main Street Community Services (MSCS) is seeking a passionate, motivated, and clinically focused Clinical and Supervised Behaviour Support Consultant to join our growing Integrated Clinical Team.
This role serves as a critical link between clinical assessment, individualized planning, and frontline implementation. Working under the supervision of the Behaviour Analyst and in collaboration with the Director of Client Care and interdisciplinary clinical team, the Clinical & Supervised Behaviour Support Consultant supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of individualized clinical supports that promote safety, independence, quality of life, and positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will work directly with individuals receiving support, mentor frontline staff, assist with clinical assessments/observations, contribute to the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), and Safety Plans, while ensuring services align with evidence-informed best practices and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
Support the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing review of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), Safety Plans, Crisis Support Plans and other individualized clinical interventions.
Collaborate with the Behaviour Analyst, Director of Client Care and interdisciplinary clinical team in the assessment, development and refinement of person-centred clinical supports.
Gather, organize and analyze clinical and behavioural information to assist in the development of evidence-informed support plans.
Conduct behavioural observations, implementation fidelity reviews and environmental assessments to identify trends, barriers and opportunities for improved outcomes.
Assist with functional observations and contribute information supporting Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs).
Monitor the effectiveness of clinical interventions and communicate recommendations for plan revisions.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences and clinical consultations.
Prepare clinical summaries, progress reports and documentation supporting ongoing service planning.
Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, objective, current and compliant with organizational standards.
Participate in quality assurance reviews and documentation audits to support continuous quality improvement and legislative compliance.
Behaviour Support
Support the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
Provide culturally responsive, person-centred, and trauma-informed behavioural support that respects the individual’s identity, values, lived experiences, family, and community connections.
Assist in identifying behavioural functions, antecedents, replacement skills and proactive intervention strategies.
Model evidence-informed behaviour support strategies during direct service delivery.
Provide coaching and mentorship to frontline staff to ensure consistent implementation of clinical recommendations.
Collect, organize and analyze behavioural data to evaluate intervention effectiveness.
Monitor implementation fidelity and provide constructive feedback to staff teams.
Support implementation of approved Safety Plans and Crisis Support Plans using least intrusive, trauma-informed and person-centred practices.
Assist in educating staff regarding behaviour support principles, de-escalation techniques and proactive interventions.
Identify emerging behavioural concerns and communicate recommendations to the Behaviour Analyst, Clinician and clinical team.
Direct Clinical Support
Provide direct support to individuals receiving services when clinically appropriate.
Promote independence, skill development and community inclusion.
Build respectful, therapeutic relationships with individuals and families.
Support implementation of individualized goals through daily programming and therapeutic interventions.
Encourage positive communication, self-advocacy and personal growth.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with Behaviour Analysts, Social Workers, Clinical Counsellors, Clinical Support Professionals, Program Managers and Direct Support Professionals.
Assist with orientation, education and coaching of staff regarding clinical programming.
Participate in ongoing professional development and organizational initiatives.
Utilize Behaviour Skills Training (BST) to provide hands-on coaching, modelling, and feedback to frontline staff.
Qualifications
Education
Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in one or more of the following:
- Behavioural Science
- Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Child and Youth Care
- Developmental Services
- Human Services
- Rehabilitation Sciences
- Disability Studies
- Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge & Experience
- The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Working knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles.
- Understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles and their practical application.
- Working knowledge of Ontario’s Quality Assurance Measures (QAM) under O. Reg. 299/10 and the Quality Standards Framework (QSF), including their application to person-directed planning, documentation, behaviour support, rights and quality service delivery.
- Knowledge of the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act (SIPDDA) and other applicable provincial legislation.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, acquired brain injury, dual diagnosis and/or mental health needs.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred and strength-based practice.
- Excellent clinical observation, documentation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to analyze behavioural data and identify meaningful trends.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within an interdisciplinary clinical environment.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Coursework toward Registered Behaviour Analyst designation.
- Crisis intervention certification (UMAB, CPI or equivalent).
- Experience completing Functional Behaviour Assessments.
- Experience working in residential, community or children’s services.
- Experience supporting ministry licensing, accreditation or quality assurance reviews.
- Experience in Indigenous Humility and connecting with local resources and cultural engagement
