Position Purpose
The Seasonal Arena Attendant assists in the operation, cleaning, and maintenance of the arenas during the ice season at the Georgina Ice Palace (GIP) and the Georgina Sutton Arena (GSA). This position supports a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facility for the public, staff, and user groups. This position may be required to work at the Georgina MURC periodically when required.
Minimum Qualifications
¿ Ability to safely use cleaning products and custodial equipment
¿ Work experience in a janitorial or cleaning environment preferred
¿ Ability to lift light to heavy items
¿ Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous manner
¿ Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC), deemed as satisfactory by the Town
¿ Flexibility to work days, evenings and weekends.

Position Summary
The Seasonal Arena Attendant assists in the operation, cleaning, and maintenance of the arenas during the ice season at the Georgina Ice Palace (GIP) and the Georgina Sutton Arena (GSA). This position supports a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facility for the public, staff, and user groups. This position may be required to work at the Georgina MURC periodically when required.
Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Cleaning
¿ Assisting in cleaning, sanitizing and monitoring dressing rooms, hallways, stands, end zones, lobbies.
¿ Assisting in cleaning, setting up and taking down of Community Hall, Meeting Rooms, Gymnasium.
¿ Empty garbage and recycling receptacles.
¿ Clean glass around the ice surface and in public areas.
¿ Perform washroom cleaning and supply replenishment.
¿ Assist with snow removal and ice melt application from entrances, emergency exits and walkways as required.
Arena Operations
¿ Assist staff with ice resurfacing preparation and maintenance (e.g., moving nets, shoveling snow from gates, edging, and sealing cracks).
¿ Monitor public skating sessions and report any unsafe behavior to full-time staff.
¿ Performing skate patrol during public skating.
¿ Ensure dressing rooms are clean and ready for incoming teams and locked after use.
¿ Help set up or take down equipment for programs, tournaments, and special events.
Customer Service
¿ Greet visitors and answer basic facility-related questions.
¿ Direct patrons to proper areas and provide information on schedules and rules.
¿ Report customer concerns or incidents to supervisors immediately.
Health & Safety
¿ Follow all municipal safety procedures, including WHMIS and PPE requirements.
¿ Report hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly.
¿ Assist with emergency response procedures when necessary.

Skills and Qualifications
¿ Minimum 15 years of age and older
¿ Police Vulnerable Sector Check Results, deemed as satisfactory by the Town.
¿ Friendly and helpful attitude, ability to interact with the public.
¿ Ability to clean and maintain facilities to a high standard.
¿ Ability to perform moderate physical labour in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions that require standing, walking, bending, and moderate lifting (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs)
¿ Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the facility schedule.
¿ Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, take initiative.
¿ Demonstrated customer service skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and patrons.
Additional Assets:
¿ Standard First Aid/CPR certification, WHMIS training, previous customer service or janitorial experience, familiarity with arena or recreation facility operations.
