Housing Navigator – Full Time Continuing

About Us

At Artemis Huron, previously Huron Women’s Shelter, we use a gender-based analysis (GBA+), trauma and violence informed framework to deliver prevention, education, crisis support and healing programs to women and their families who have been impacted by gender-based violence (GBV) in rural Huron County. Our services include a 24-hour helpline and emergency shelter, risk assessment and safety planning, advocacy, system navigation, individual and group healing opportunities, and community development.

We are seeking a Housing Navigator to join our team. This role works within our Residential Programs (Emergency Shelter and Second Stage). This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Manager of Second Stage and working within the Artemis Huron Residential Support Team, the Housing Navigator is accountable for providing individualized, client centred housing support to the Residential Program clients.

Using a feminist, trauma and violence informed framework, the Housing Navigator supports with assessing and enhancing client readiness for independent living, case planning and goal setting, and ensuring a seamless transition into housing.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

1. Conduct client intake and ongoing assessments, collaborate with clients to develop and implement individualized housing plans, and provide structured, solution-focused support to help clients progress toward their housing goals.

2. Provide housing navigation and transition support by assisting clients with applications, explaining housing options and processes, tracking application progress, and supporting move-in planning and housing stabilization.

3. Orient clients to program structure, expectations, and responsibilities, and complete required housing readiness documentation to support successful program participation.

4. Provide housing-focused case management by coordinating with community partners, advocating with external service providers, supporting access to income and financial supports, and participating in relevant internal and external committees.

5. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including case notes, housing applications, and follow-up records, and contribute to program reporting by tracking participant progress and outcomes.

**A detailed role and responsibility document will be given to candidates offered an interview.

Location

The Housing Navigator works primarily in an office environment within our Shelter and Second Stage Programs in Goderich, Clinton and Exeter, however, the position will also require working in non-standard workplaces supporting clients in the community as needed.

Hours

The Housing Navigator works a standard work week (35 hours/week) and may be required to work variable evening and weekend hours as required to accommodate program needs.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry 20lbs.

· Demonstrates a strong feminist, GBA+, and trauma and violence informed analysis, approach, and practice

· Excellent conflict resolution skills; ability to facilitate difficult conversations

· Strong knowledge of housing supports and services in the community

· Strong ability to communicate and collaborate

· Demonstrates advocacy skills and effective women-centered practice delivery

· Highly developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills

· Outstanding communications, listening and assessment skills

· Demonstrated organizational and coordination skills

· Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision

· Proficiency in use of computer office technology and applications

Qualifications

· Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Women’s Studies, Human Services or a Social Service Worker Diploma with related experience.

· Minimum 3 years of social service experience in case management, housing support, or program delivery. Preference will be given to experience obtained working with individuals who have experienced gender-based violence and/or systemic barriers.

· Valid driver’s license; access to a reliable vehicle and proof of adequate insurance.

· Clean driver’s abstract; Clear current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

· Valid CPR, First Aid (ASIST, CPI an asset).

· Fluency in other languages an asset.
