As we continue to grow, we are seeking a full-time Hairstyling Instructor to join our academic team at our Grand Falls-Windsor campus and help prepare the next generation of hairstyling professionals.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Keyin College as a full-time, in-person instructor, delivering engaging, hands-on education that prepares students for successful careers in the hairstyling industry.
As a Hairstyling Instructor, you will deliver both theoretical and practical instruction across a variety of hairstyling topics while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and learner-focused classroom environment. You will play an important role in helping students develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, professionalism, and confidence needed to succeed in today's beauty industry.
This is a dynamic role that requires flexibility, collaboration, and a passion for education. The ideal candidate is an experienced hairstylist with current industry knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to mentor and inspire future hairstyling professionals.
What You'll Do
- Deliver engaging classroom, laboratory, and salon-based instruction in Hairstyling courses.
- Demonstrate and supervise hands-on hairstyling techniques in a safe and professional learning environment.
- Teach both theoretical and practical components of the program, including haircutting, colouring, chemical texture services, styling, hair treatments, scalp care, and client consultation.
- Support students through coaching, mentorship, and academic guidance.
- Evaluate student knowledge and practical competencies through assignments, examinations, demonstrations, and practical assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Collaborate with academic leadership and fellow faculty to support program quality and student success.
- Ensure students understand industry standards, client care, professionalism, workplace health and safety, sanitation, and infection prevention and control practices.
- Stay current with emerging hairstyling techniques, products, tools, technologies, and industry trends.
- Assist in maintaining salon equipment, supplies, and learning resources to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
What You Bring
- Red Seal Hairstylist certification
- Combination of education and professional experience equivalent to six (6) years.
- Current professional experience in the hairstyling, salon, or beauty industry.
- Strong knowledge of haircutting, colouring, chemical texture services, styling, hair treatments, scalp care, and client consultation.
- Thorough understanding of sanitation, infection prevention and control, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support adult learners.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or instructional experience is considered an asset.
- Additional industry certifications, advanced training, or specialized expertise are considered assets.
