Boundary Electric is seeking a high-impact, strategic Controller to lead its finance function and serve as a trusted partner to the President and senior leadership team. This role extends beyond traditional financial stewardship. The Controller will play a central role in driving business performance, enabling strategic decision-making, and enhancing financial discipline across a complex, multi-entity environment.
Reporting to the CFO and acting as a key advisor to the President, the Controller will oversee all financial operations including reporting, budgeting, audit, and compliance, while also leading a capable team of accounting professionals.

Key Functions:
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities
- Ensure compliance with ASPE, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
- Manage year-end audit processes and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
Strategic Business Partnership
- Act as a key advisor to the President and leadership team on financial and operational decisions
- Provide insights to support pricing, margin optimization, and cost management initiatives
- Partner with operations and sales teams to improve financial discipline and execution
- Participate actively in strategic initiatives, capital projects, and growth planning
Operational Finance & Analysis
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Strengthen working capital management, including inventory and cash flow optimization
- Support contract review, revenue recognition considerations, and support risk assessment on large transactions
- Manage intercompany accounting across multiple entities and currencies (including USD exposure)
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a high-performance culture
- Provide coaching to emerging leaders within the team, including succession development
- Strengthen team dynamics and promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Systems, Process & Transformation
- Leverage ERP (NetSuite) to enhance financial processes, reporting, and scalability
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives, including the adoption of AI tools
- Support ongoing system optimization and cross-entity standardization efforts
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and governance frameworks
- Support risk management across contracts, supply chain, and financial operations
- Collaborate with parent company (Ampere) on approvals, reporting requirements, and capital oversight
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- CPA designation required
- Progressive experience in accounting/finance leadership roles, ideally within manufacturing, project-based, or industrial environments
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including audit, financial reporting, and compliance
- Experience managing multi-entity structures, consolidations, and intercompany transactions
- Exposure to international operations, foreign currency, and cross-border transactions is an asset
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Familiarity with revenue recognition and contract-based accounting environments
