Position Summary
We are seeking a highly collaborative Lead Quality Control to join our team. This role is responsible for leading quality assurance and quality control activities while ensuring compliance with company processes, client specifications, and industry standards in a team environment.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong leadership, mentorship, and time management skills. They have experience leading strong teams, coordinating quality documentation, inspections, and facility support activities. This position works closely with various departments and client representatives to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow, support, and implement company Quality Management System (QMS) and internal processes
- Review and interpret client specifications, project documentation, codes, and drawings
- Delegate and prioritize tasks across multiple teams to create a cohesive work environment and unify various teams
- Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for client submissions and project execution
- Work within the Spoolfab drawing program to review, manage, and issue fabrication drawings
- Coordinate and create project quality documentation including: hydrotest packages, bake-out documentation, PWHT documentation, turnover packages, and inspection records and supporting documentation
- Complete final project turnover packages for clients
- Perform visual inspections of welds for structural steel, pressure piping, and equipment
- Verify and document weld parameters and quality requirements
- Coordinate and complete material receiving inspections and documentation
- Lead and mentor a team of quality inspectors and support personnel
- Collaborate with fabrication, operations, and project teams to resolve quality-related issues
- Ensure all quality documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within project timelines
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality processes and project execution
- Participate in shop and potential field-based quality activities as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a quality coordination, QA/QC, or inspection leadership role within vessels, fabrication, welding, piping, or industrial construction environments
- Strong understanding of quality management systems, fabrication processes, and inspection requirements
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Ability to interpret weld procedures and ensure welder certifications are adequate for the work and weld procedure
- Experience with welding inspections and pressure piping documentation considered an asset
- Experience using Spoolfab or similar fabrication drawing software is considered an asset
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and project documentation systems
Work Environment & Schedule
- Primarily shop-based role with a 10 and 4 schedule
- Occasional field work may be required depending on project needs
