We are currently seeking a motivated and hands-on Shop Technician to join our operations team in Grande Prairie. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working a fast-paced shop environment, takes pride in maintaining equipment and facilities and values teamwork, safety, and operational excellence.
The Shop Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the shop and yard by ensuring equipment, tools, and materials are clean, organized, maintained, and ready for deployment. This role supports operational efficiency through equipment cleaning and inspection, chemical handling, inventory support, shipping and receiving, and general shop and yard maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safe operation of the shop, wash bay, and yard areas, including general facility upkeep and housekeeping.
- Clean, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and prepare scrubbers, totes, and related equipment to ensure operational readiness and support new equipment builds.
- Support daily shop operations by assisting with inventory management, restocking parts, organizing tolls and materials, shipping/receiving, material handling, and parts runs.
- Assist Field Technicians and operations teams as required while participating in safety meetings, inspections, and maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and QMS requirements.
- Fill, monitor, handle, and transport chemical inventories safely and in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Safely load, unload, package, stage and document equipment, materials, and shipments for operational and customer needs.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of H₂S treatment and emission management operations is an asset.
- Required Certifications: WHMIS, H₂S Alive, Standard First Aid/CPR, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and Cargo Securement.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, steamers, forklifts, and shop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory counts and documentation.
