Job Description:
Reporting to the DEI Manager, this position plays a key role in delivering a community-based job readiness program designed to empower individuals impacted by gender-based violence. Through one-on-one support, group facilitation, and partnership development, the role contributes to creating safe, inclusive pathways to meaningful employment.
In alignment with program funding priorities, lived experience related to intimate partner violence or gender-based violence is considered an asset and may be discussed during the recruitment process.
This position will support the planning and delivery of a one-year job readiness program in partnership with the Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC), aimed at building skills and employment readiness for participants with past intimate partner violence or gender-based violence experience. The Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC) is a community-based nonprofit organization that supports women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals who have experienced violence or other challenging life situations. SWC offers programs and services that promote safety, healing, connection, and empowerment through trauma-informed support, resource navigation, group programming, and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to clients, including intake, resource navigation, and follow-up
- Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops and group programs in a safe, inclusive environment
- Plan and coordinate small events and program activities
- Support the planning and delivery of a structured job readiness program in partnership with SWC
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations, businesses, and community groups
- Research and identify collaboration opportunities aligned with Spark’s mission
- Act as a liaison between Spark and external partners to ensure clear communication and coordination
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for reporting purposes
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery
- Participate in community outreach initiatives and events
- Attend community meetings as required
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in Social Service Work or a related field (required)
- Minimum 1 year experience in social services or a related role (required)
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and client-centered support, particularly in relation to gender-based violence
- Experience in workplace rights and/or women’s rights is considered an asset
- Compassionate, patient, and approachable
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented and efficient
- Mental Health First Aid certification is considered an asset
Additional Information:
- Reports to the DEI Manager
- Schedule: 35 hours/week (8:30AM-4:30PM Mon.- Fri.)
- Occasional travel within the community (expenses reimbursed per Spark policy)
- Facilitation of workshops and programming is a core responsibility
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s licence (required)
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle to support program delivery at off-site locations
- Willingness to travel locally
- Work location: In person (Greater Sudbury, ON P3C 5K6)
