TX5 Communications Inc. is looking to hire a fulltime experienced Fiber Technician/Splicer
JOB FUNCTION:
Experienced Fiber Technician/Splicer will work alone and/or with a team to pull and install communication cable; install and troubleshoot related components; and troubleshoot, install, terminate, splice and test fiber cabling in residential or commercial work sites.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (including but not limited to)
- Install, repair and/or layout all types of fiber communication cabling with minimal supervision.
- Terminate, splice, and test fiber communication cabling
- Good mechanical aptitude - working with hand tools and power equipment
- Working with other team members to meet daily and weekly installation targets
- Maintaining professional attitude and always represent our company in a positive light
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment
- Troubleshoot, test, install and maintain fiber communication systems in residential and business environments
- Working at heights
- Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather, year round
- Complete and submit paperwork and documentation as per company requirements
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST:
- Possess a High School GED or equivalent
- Be experienced with troubleshooting, installing, Fusion Splicing and OTDR testing of fiber cable.
- Be capable of troubleshooting issues with communication cabling.
- Be able to distinguish colours
- Be able to work 40 - 44 hours a week and overtime if required
- Be able to work for extended periods on their feet
- Be fluent with and capable of using Windows and Microsoft Office in a professional environment
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language
- Own CSA approved steel toed work boots and hard hat
- Supply basic personal tools once on the job
- Have reliable transportation and hold a minimum of a G-license with a clean driving record
- Able and capable to work in various climates and conditions
- Be capable of physical labour with the ability to routinely and without limitation lift tools and materials – occasionally 50 – 75 lbs
- Able to work overhead - without limitation
- Comfortable with working at heights and in confined spaces
- Must possess Working at Heights Certification and relevant experience
- Be bondable with a clean Criminal Background Check
- Be capable and willing to wear proper PPE, including Covid 19 related PPE without restriction

Salary: $24 per hour + Climbing Premium
