GIS Technician

Do you have a passion for geospatial data and technologies and are looking to make an impact? Greater Sudbury Utilities, is looking for a GIS Technician who demonstrates strong technical expertise, effective data management skills, and a high level of attention to detail.
This position assists in maintaining and continuing to develop the organization's utility databases.
The successful candidate will have:
- Technical diploma in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
- Two years' experience with GIS (ArcGIS) and/or CAD (AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of electrical fundamentals, design standards, and distribution system layouts.
- Knowledge of land registry title searches, survey plans, land division approvals, and private plant transfers.
- Experience integrating CAD and GIS data, using mobile field devices and GNSS; surveying or high locational accuracy data collection experience is an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid Class "G" driver's license.
- Experience editing Esri utility networks is an asset.
- Ability to learn continuously and adapt to changing technology.
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical peers and build strong working relationships.
- Utility linear and hierarchical data experience preferred (hydro, telecom, water, wastewater, or drainage).
- Experience with mobile field workers, work orders, GIS and asset management systems is an asset.
Details: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday in accordance with the collective agreement. This position is based in Sudbury, Ontario. GSU offers a comprehensive benefit package, participation in the OMERS defined benefit pension plan, ongoing training and support with an annual salary range of $89,000.00 to $98,000.00.
