Department: Central Intake Ontario - North East Mental Health & Addiction Hub
As the regional provider of specialized mental health and addictions services in northeastern Ontario, the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is expanding its leadership role as the host organization for the Central Intake Ontario – North East Mental Health & Addictions Hub (CIO-MHA Hub).
Led provincially by Ontario Health and the Centre of Excellence for Mental Health and Addictions, CIO-MHA is designed to make it easier for adults to access outpatient mental health and substance use services. This will be done through a coordinated, single-entry system that connects people with the most appropriate provider, at the right time and in the right location.
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Project Coordinator will focus on the advancement of the initiative’s implementation across the region.
Key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Supporting existing and emerging components of the Central Intake Ontario - Mental Health and Addiction Structure (e.g. MHA PCA Implementation committee, working/advisory groups, etc.)
- Establishing new and maintaining existing positive relationships and open consultation with key stakeholders, lived experience and other key care partners
- Capturing the voice of Patient / Family / Community to establish a regional platform to advance the catalyst for change
- Managing expectations of project sponsors, stakeholders and provincial champions (including, but not limited to: project charters, schedule, budget, risk plan etc.) in consultation with Clinical Manager
- Supporting standardized processes and practices to promote sustainability
- Developing enriched system linkages to enhance the access to Mental Health and Addiction supports for individuals across the Northeast
- Identifying and cultivating promising practices and standardized work among MHA stakeholders and care partners throughout Ontario
The ideal candidate will be an organized, highly flexible individual who can perform with minimal supervision, has excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional manner. The applicant must have excellent time management skills, the ability to be versatile and adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment to multiple work patterns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline from an accredited university required, master’s degree in health administration, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, or related field preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive clinical experience within the Mental Health and Addiction (MHA) sector required
- Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including supervisory, project leadership, and system coordination responsibilities required
- Formal training and/or certification in Change Management and process improvement methodologies strongly preferred (e.g., Lean Healthcare Certification, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, Prosci Change Management Certification, PMP or equivalent project management certification)
- Demonstrated experience leading transformational change initiatives within complex healthcare systems required
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario healthcare system, including Ontario Health structures, Health Service Providers (HSPs), provincial MHA strategies, funding models, regulatory frameworks, and coordinated access pathways required
Skills/Abilities:
- Proven ability to lead system-level planning and implementation initiatives, including development of project charters, work plans, risk mitigation strategies, performance indicators, and sustainability frameworks
- Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder engagement, consensus-building, and facilitation across diverse partner organizations, including individuals with lived/living experience, community agencies, and provincial bodies
- Strong understanding of quality improvement, standardized work, and continuous improvement principles to support sustainable regional integration and service alignment
- Demonstrated experience using data analytics, performance indicators, and reporting tools to monitor outcomes, inform decision-making, and drive continuous advancements across the healthcare system
- Experience working within governance frameworks, reporting to steering committees, and supporting regional/provincial accountability structures
- Experience in program development, evaluation, and implementation, including managing multiple competing priorities within tight timelines and evolving system demands
- Advanced problem-solving, systems-thinking, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to navigate complex clinical and organizational scenarios while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a clinical and system resource in addressing complex cases, facilitating coordinated service planning, and strengthening cross-sector linkages
- Sound knowledge of regulated health professions, applicable legislation (e.g., RHPA), privacy requirements, and professional standards of practice
- Experience supporting staff onboarding, competency development, and coordination of ongoing professional education and training initiatives
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs), coordinated access platforms, referral management systems, or digital health tools to support system integration preferred
- Proven ability to manage client concerns and complaints effectively, escalating appropriately while maintaining therapeutic and organizational integrity
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), project planning tools, reporting dashboards, and data analysis for performance monitoring and decision support
- Demonstrated commitment to Inclusion, Equity, Diversity and Indigeneity (IEDI) principles, including the ability to apply culturally safe, trauma-informed, and equity-focused approaches to program planning, partner engagement, and service delivery. In addition to specific experience advancing equitable access for diverse, rural, Francophone, Indigenous, and underserved populations within the Mental Health and Addiction system preferred
- Valid Driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel across the Northeast region on occasion as required
- Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety standards, risk mitigation, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and prevention of adverse event
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is a strong asset
