Geophysical Technician – Entry-Level
THE OPPORTUNITY
WSG has an exciting opportunity for a Field Technician to be directly involved in the next growth phase of one of Canada’s leading geophysical providers. We are hiring entry level roles with full training provided and no previous experience required, as well as roles for people with geophysics survey experience.

ABOUT US
Wireline Services Group (Canada) is a subsidiary of WSG Australia and has been operating in Canada since 2012. WSG is a leading supplier of specialist geophysical wireline logging, ground electromagnetic (EM) and borehole EM geophysical survey services to the resource industry in Australia and Canada. WSG Canada operates out of a modern base in Sudbury, Ontario.
COMPENSATION
- $26.78 to $27.00 per hour + overtime pay
DUTIES
The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Under the guidance of a mentor on site, operate geophysical logging and directional survey tools and vehicles in accordance with operating procedures;
- Attend all site client meetings and follow client requirements whilst on site or under their jurisdiction. Complete appropriate site-specific and internal and external inductions as required;
- Complete all relevant paperwork as dictated by the relevant procedures, including daily sheets and basic processing (training is provided);
- Assist in maintaining the logging units, tools and equipment in a clean and well-presented condition at all times;
- Present yourself and your logging unit in a tidy and professional manner at all times;
- Take a proactive approach to Health, Safety. and Environment Policies and Procedures and report any hazards and risks identified in the workplace. Contribute health and safety information and initiatives at safety and prestart meetings.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Required:
- Unrestricted G class Driver’s Licence
- First Aid + CPR, AED Certificate or ability to obtain before starting
- Ability to successfully complete 4WD Course
- Basic level of MS Office Suite experience
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Favourable:
- Previous experience with geophysics and mining
- Snowmobile, UTV, Argo and bear training
- Experience with working outdoors, and in remote environments.
Helpful:
- Ability to speak a second language – French or Spanish
- Diploma, Degree or relevant experience in geology, geophysics or environmental sciences.
