Role Summary
Our Integrated Delivery division is looking for a Sponsor Officer to join our multi-disciplinary team responsible for ensuring the realization of project benefits through the transformative GO Expansion Program. You will work closely with GO Expansion Sponsors in the strategic planning and execution of high-profile projects, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, securing governance approvals, and coordinate between teams across Metrolinx.
What will I be doing?
- Support the Senior Manager, GO Expansion Sponsor in the day-to-day management of projects throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the corridor missions and the benefits outlined in the GO Expansion Business Case and GO Extensions business cases are achieved.
- Support coordinated project planning and management, including identifying and mitigating project risks, monitoring project progress. and ensure ensuring outcomes meet or exceed Metrolinx objectives for scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Populate and maintain risk and issues logs to support timely resolution / escalation and remove barriers to the realization of program benefits.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams and subject matter experts to assess and recommend project alternatives and mitigation strategies where needed to protect program benefits
- As required, represent the GO Expansion Sponsor Team at the table where and when needed, including on Working Groups and other review and decision-making bodies.
- Plan meetings with clear objectives, preparing agendas, presentations, briefing documents, and maintaining action logs to ensure follow through
- Prepare and contribute to governance artifacts and documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, senior management team and public forums; and support delivery of presentations as required.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal divisions and external stakeholders to identify and manage interfaces and ensure alignment with broader organizational and strategic priorities.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a degree in Public Policy, Planning, Business, Engineering or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation recognized by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI), Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
- Demonstrated experience on strategic planning, development, and implementation of transportation and / or infrastructure projects, preferably in the public sector. Experience in transit and rail project delivery or operating environments is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, governance frameworks, risk management, and financial stewardship.
- Adaptability combined with strong organizational skills to assess, manage and document changes throughout the project lifecycle
- Strong problem-solving skills and clear analytical thinking to make evidence-based recommendations to support executive and senior management level decision making
- Proven stakeholder management, negotiation, mediation and influencing skills to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration, and resolve project issues and competing priorities
- Awareness of the legislative and regulatory requirements impacting the planning, development and implementation of transportation projects
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills from both a technical and a business audience perspective; with the ability to translate and communicate complex technical information to executive and public audiences.
