We are seeking a Computer Drafting Team Lead to oversee and coordinate Autodesk 2D CAD and 3D Inventor activities, reporting directly to the Vice President - Product Engineering.
This role is responsible for managing drafting workflow, ensuring drawing quality and consistency, and leading a multidisciplinary team supporting both electrical/control system and mechanical drafting deliverables. The position will play a key role in interfacing between engineering and drafting functions, ensuring that all drawings are executed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with FPS standards and project requirements.
The Drafting Team Lead will manage incoming drafting requests, establish priorities, and assign work across a team of CAD technicians while maintaining visibility on project schedules and deliverables. A working knowledge of electrical and control system drawings is required, including electrical cabinet layouts, wiring diagrams, and Boolean logic diagrams. The role requires the ability to review and interpret engineering markups, engage with engineers to resolve ambiguities, and ensure that all drawings meet clarity, completeness, and quality expectations prior to release. The role will also include oversight of drafting-related document control activities, including drawing filing, revision/status tracking, transmittal coordination, and use of customer-specific transmittal platforms where required.
The Drafting Team Lead will be responsible for the overall coordination of the drafting group, which includes both 2D electrical/layout drafting and 3D mechanical drafting disciplines. This role will work closely with the Lead Mechanical Drafter to align priorities, manage shared resources, and address overlapping project requirements. Technical responsibility for Inventor modeling and mechanical drafting will remain with the mechanical drafting group, while the Drafting Team Lead will provide technical direction and support for electrical drafting, cabinet layout, logic drawings, and related 2D drafting requirements. The role will also include people management responsibilities, including performance reviews, vacation approvals, and supporting the development, training, and workload planning of drafting personnel.
A structured transition period of approximately one year will be provided to allow for knowledge transfer from the current Drafting Manager, ensuring continuity in processes, standards, and team leadership.
Responsibilities include the following:

- Oversee drawing quality prior to acceptance and release
- Oversee drafting-related document control activities, including drawing filing, revision and status tracking, transmittal preparation, and use of customer-specific transmittal platforms where required.
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary drafting activities between electrical and mechanical teams
- Work with the lead 2D and mechanical drafters to support onboarding, technical training, and development of drafting personnel within each discipline.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and support team development
- Review and approve vacation requests and manage team availability
- Support onboarding and training of drafting personnel, including participation in a structured transition from the current Drafting Manager
