Job Summary
Graduates of the Faculty of Management (FoM) are leaders and managers in the business sector, public sector, and civil society who live the Faculty’s vision of managing for the betterment of society. The Faculty has been recognized for its innovative, values-based approach to management education and research. Management Career Services (MCS) provides work-integrated learning opportunities and career education for Corporate Residency MBA, Master of Public Administration, Bachelor of Commerce Co-op, and Bachelor of Management programs students. Reporting to the Manager, Employer Engagement, the Employer Engagement Specialist will engage new, dormant and existing employer partners and generate employment opportunities to meet the needs of students served by Management Career Services (MCS), for work terms and graduate employment, with Atlantic Canada based organizations, contribute to Management Career Services’ employer engagement strategy, and coordinate and contribute to events and networking opportunities, representing MCS and the Faculty of Management in various activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a targeted and effective sales cycle by developing a funnel of prospective employers, qualifying prospects and closing sales to engage high potential reputable new employers, and generate quality paid employment opportunities appropriate to students’ interests and academic level in consideration of the targeted industries and strategic priorities of each student employment program.
- Engage new/dormant and existing employers to generate employment opportunities for all student employment programs in industry and markets segments that are aligned with MCS strategic priorities and often in highly competitive fields (e.g., consulting, financial services, accounting, marketing etc.)
- Establish collaborations with key external stakeholders, professional and industry associations to expand the outreach of MCS to the employer community. Participate in external committees to foster and maintain external relationships.
- Refer or advise employers regarding provincial, federal, and other wage subsidy and funding programs available for co-op student and recent graduate recruitment and provide time sensitive job endorsement to enable employers to apply for wage subsidy and funding programs.
- Conduct regular work term mid-term review meetings with students and supervisors to ensure positive support for all FoM programs continues and support excellent student performance.
- Assist the MCS team and the Faculty of Management regarding various events and activities, when needed.
Note
The successful applicant will primarily work remotely from within Nova Scotia with occasional presence in-person on-campus to meet client needs and operation requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with three to five years’ sales experience, preferably in employment and/or recruitment industry (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- An established network of business professionals in our key strategic target markets. Demonstrated history of cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with a proven ability to close deals.
- Proven ability to create and maintain long term relationships, while managing a diverse portfolio of various types of employer relationships.
- Excellent client engagement and client relationship management skills. Ability to work and collaborate with team members.
- Effective time and task management skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with, and understand the needs of, a diverse student population.
