The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced and dependable Lawn Maintenance Foreman to join our team for the mowing season. This is hands-on, outdoor work for someone who takes pride in a property done right and a job site left spotless.
You'll spend your days mowing, trimming, and cleaning up residential and commercial properties across Halifax — working efficiently to complete your route, keeping our equipment in top shape, and representing Apex professionally on every property. If you know your way around a mower, a trimmer, and a trailer, and you show up reliably, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Mow residential and commercial lawns to a high, consistent standard across the Halifax peninsula.
- Operate a string trimmer (whipper snipper) and leaf blower to finish edges and leave every site clean and tidy.
- Tow and maneuver an equipment trailer safely to and between properties as needed.
- Mix two-stroke fuel correctly and keep equipment fuelled and ready to go.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance — sharpening and changing mower blades, checking oil and filters, and keeping all gear in good working order.
- Work efficiently to complete scheduled routes on time, adjusting for weather as needed.
- Keep job sites clean and leave every property looking its best.
- Represent Apex professionally and courteously on client properties.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 4+ years of hands-on lawn mowing and lawn maintenance experience.
- A clean, valid driver's licence — required to drive to job sites and tow the equipment trailer.
- Reliable and punctual — your crew and our clients count on you showing up.
- Efficient and self-directed — able to keep a steady pace and finish routes on schedule.
- Able to mix two-stroke (gas/oil) fuel correctly for small-engine equipment.
- Confident towing and maneuvering an equipment trailer.
- Able to handle simple equipment maintenance — sharpening blades and routine upkeep of mowers and gear.
- Physically able to work outdoors in all conditions and perform repetitive, physical tasks throughout the day.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Nice to have:
- Experience with hedge trimming, garden work, hardscaping, or other landscaping services.
- Small-engine repair or mechanical knowledge.
- Familiarity with the Halifax area and efficient route planning.
