Head Chef Crème Café · Halifax, NS (1341 Lower Water Street, Halifax Waterfront)

Job type: Full-time, permanent Pay: $55,000 to $58,000 per year Schedule: Day shifts, weekends and holidays required, evenings Friday and Saturday

About the role Crème Café is a waterfront patisserie and café on the Halifax boardwalk, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and an evening menu, alongside a custom cake, chocolate and catering program. We are looking for a Head Chef to own the savoury kitchen across every daypart. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who runs a clean pass, holds a standard, and takes pride in food that leaves the kitchen hot, correct and beautiful every single time. You will lead a small team, build menus that suit a busy all-day café, and work closely with our pastry program and front of house. What you will do Run daily kitchen operations across breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and evening service Own the pass: consistency, plating, temperature and timing on every plate Develop and cost seasonal menus and features using Nova Scotia product Manage ordering, receiving, inventory and food cost Hire, train, schedule and develop the kitchen team Maintain food safety, sanitation and Nova Scotia health compliance Support catering, private events and holiday volume periods Coordinate daily with the pastry team and front of house on specials, supply and service flow.

What we are looking for 2 or more years leading a kitchen as Head Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or a Sous Chef ready to step up Experience with high volume café, all day dining, brunch or hotel restaurant service Proven ability to hold quality and consistency at pace Strong grasp of food cost, ordering and labour management Calm, organized leadership and a respectful kitchen culture Food Handler certification, or willingness to obtain before start Comfortable in a design forward, guest facing space where presentation matters

Assets Red Seal certification or formal culinary training

Experience with afternoon tea, banquets or catering production

Familiarity with pastry workflows Confidence with allergen and dietary requests

What we offer

$55,000 to $58,000 annually, based on experience Staff meals and staff discount Consistent full time schedule
