Hiring: Intermediate Technical Writer (Hybrid – Halifax, NS)
Contract Duration: 9 Months (Potential Extension up to 12 Months)
Pay Rate: CAD $35–$40/hour
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia (Hybrid)
Schedule: Initial onsite training for approximately 2 weeks, followed by a hybrid model (about 1 day/week onsite + team events)
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to join a collaborative product team supporting innovative software solutions. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly adapt, work independently, and create high-quality documentation with minimal onboarding.
What You’ll Do
- Write and edit technical documentation including user guides, release notes, and product content
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and UX designers to create intuitive and user-friendly content
- Develop UI text aligned with tone, usability, and accessibility standards
- Revise and maintain documentation based on product updates and stakeholder feedback
- Proofread and review content for accuracy, consistency, and quality
- Ensure documentation aligns with branding, globalization, and localization best practices
- Create and optimize supporting visuals and images for technical content
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical communication, ideally within software environments
- 2+ years of experience writing user interface content
- Proven experience producing documentation for complex products
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running with minimal training
- Experience using structured authoring tools such as Paligo or MadCap Flare
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management and ability to manage shifting priorities
- Proficiency with desktop publishing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Microsoft Office
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, HTML, and XML
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve content workflows
- Knowledge of modular/reusable content and metadata systems
- Understanding of content governance, compliance, and localization practices
- Experience supporting user education/help flows
- Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Illustrator, or Photoshop
- Ability to demonstrate measurable content impact through metrics or success stories.
