Title: Volunteer After School

Volunteer Commitment: 2 hours per week; 3:00 - 5:00pm

Location: Community Y

The Volunteer Opportunity

Our afterschool drop in is a program for school aged youth (5-17) that runs weekdays from 3-5pm. Youth have the opportunity to play sports, socialize, play games and more.

This position is responsible for ensuring quality, safe, and inclusive program delivery with a focus on physical literacy, cooperative play, and confidence building. As a volunteer you will work directly with school age youth (ages 5-17) to assist in delivering programming such as sports, crafts, games etc.

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting in the delivery of hands-on program activities for school age youth (ages 5-17). Program delivery will provide participants with a safe, inclusive, and positive environment. Program facilitation is in keeping with established outcomes/objectives, in addition to YMCA quality and child safeguarding standards, and provincial regulations. This includes, program set-up/take down, preparation of materials and procurement of supplies/equipment.
Leading by example and forming positive relationships with youth within the program through supervision and mentorship.
Ensure the safety of youth in the program by following proper child safeguarding procedures.

Please note that the successful candidate is required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, clear Child Abuse Register Check, and valid First Aid and CPR training.
