Title: Yard/Warehouse Employee

Position Summary:
Yard/Warehouse employees are responsible for the customer service experience for contractors, builders and customers in the yard. Yard/Warehouse employees adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines to ensure the safety of themselves and everyone in the yard.

Customer Service:
- Follows Turkstra's approach to World Class Customer Service which includes:
- Greet and advise customers by providing useful knowledge of products and services; utilize resources where required.
- Process customer orders by locating and loading product into customer and company vehicles, exercise proper load building, secure and unload techniques.
- Seek to earn 100% of the customer's business (100% wallet share).
Daily Operations:
- Responsible for maintaining branch appearance according to branch standards guidelines.
- Ensures machinery maintenance by completing daily checks.
- Safely and effectively operates a forklift and/or Skidsteer (if applicable).
- Able to perform simple to complex cutting orders accurately.
- Contribute to Inventory Management by:
- Proper stock rotation.
- Culling inventory immediately.
- Reporting damaged material.
- Counting/verifying that orders are built accurately.
- Participating in ad-hoc & cycle counts.
- Follow proper procedure to open and close the yard.
Business Objectives:
- Works together with the branch team to achieve key performance indicators (KPI's).
- Is familiar with Turkstra Mill, Truss Plant, Lawson Lumber, and Turkstra Design Centre, and can effectively discuss with customers.
- Support the Turkstra Lumber Build-it-Better program.
Training and Development:
- Completes all Learning Management System (LMS) course assignments within assigned timeframe.
- Assist in the training and support of coworkers (where and when appropriate).
- Obtains forklift certificate and/or Skidsteer certificate (if applicable).
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for any and all other duties as may be required from time to time in accordance with proper training and certification requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements:
- General interest in the construction industry.
- Experience or knowledge with related products and services.
- Vocational training is an asset.
- Experience in construction industry is an asset.
- Load building, securing and dumping experience is an asset.
Abilities/Skill Requirements:
- Customer focused.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Product Knowledge.
- Detailed oriented.
- General math skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- This role regularly involves lifting and moving building materials up to 66 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Required to lift heavy material/objects.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
