We are looking for a Microbiologist 1 in 6660 Campobello Rd, Mississauga, ON L5N 2L9 CAN. Your mission will be to:
Microbiologist 1 Pathogen – Post Inc. Dept., Food Microbiology Lab
As a Laboratory Analyst, your responsibilities are:
Primary role is PCR area: setting up various rapid methods, recording and releasing results as well as approvals and validations within the LIMS system.
Results orientated to produce high quality defensible analytical data, safely and on time by following applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
Following specific reporting requirements for specific clients and effectively communicating to appropriate internal groups.
Coordinates the priority organization and flow of samples and/or materials.
Gains full knowledge with respect to performing analytical procedures and related quality control techniques.
Participates in building a strong team of analytical professionals.
Communicating with data entry, PMs, samples inspection, archiving and other departments as well as external contacts clearly and promptly.
Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations.
Monitor/maintain adequate supply of media and other chemicals.
Ensure all micro QA logbooks are followed and up to date.
Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed for analyses and scope.
Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensures samples are analyzed within expected TAT requirements.
Other duties as assigned by the lab supervisors, including other areas of the lab.
QUALIFICATIONS [Minimum Requirements]:
Demonstrated success in the role of a Laboratory Technician.
Post secondary school education and equivalent experience.
Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft office.
Dynamic, Energetic, motivated, motivated, positive outlook, and Can-Do attitude.
Detailed understanding of laboratory information systems and overall processes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good record keeping skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Organized with a professional attitude and excellent communication skills.
Must be able to work afternoon shifts & weekends; all candidates must be flexible to any shift change & overtime
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 4:00p.m. -12:30 a.m.
YOUR PROFILE
Work Environment: The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process. The incumbent may use the autoclave daily to complete the analysis process. Continuous lifting of analysis materials weighing up to 20 pounds are necessary to transport media materials. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position. The incumbent should be able to detect slight variation in shades of colors.
Pay: $21 CAD per hour
