Overhead Crane Service Technician

Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on variety, takes pride in clean work, and gets satisfaction from fixing what others can't? We're looking for an Overhead Crane Service Technician to join our Service team — someone who's as comfortable troubleshooting a complex electrical fault as they are responding to an urgent breakdown call. If you love being out in the field, working with your hands, and being the person customers count on when their operations are down, keep reading.

What You'll Do

You'll be the go-to expert who keeps overhead cranes running safely and reliably for our customers. No two days look the same, one day you're commissioning a new install, the next you're diagnosing a tricky electrical issue or responding to an emergency call.

Specifically, you'll:

Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions before they become bigger problems
Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts to get equipment back in service
Perform crane inspections, repairs, installations, and respond to breakdown calls
Inspect hoists, cranes, systems, chain falls, and pullers
Order parts and maintain inventory so you've got what you need when you need it
Keep clear maintenance reports and documentation
Represent us professionally on every customer site and work as part of a tight-knit team
Take on other duties as assigned (because that's the nature of service work)

Safety Is Non-Negotiable

We take safety seriously, and so will you. In this role, you'll:

Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and our internal safety policies
Wear and properly maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including fall protection like harnesses and lanyards
Participate in ongoing safety training and emergency drills
Operate all tools, machinery, and vehicles according to training and manufacturer guidelines
Report incidents, accidents, near misses, and potential hazards immediately
Complete customer site orientations and follow their site-specific safety requirements

What You Bring

Must-haves:

Secondary school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a college, CEGEP, vocational, or technical program
3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience
A valid driver's license in good standing
Strong critical thinking skills and a knack for diagnosing problems methodically
Excellent communication skills — verbal and written — and a people-first attitude
Willingness to work overtime when the job calls for it

Nice-to-haves (these will make you stand out):

Electrical (309A/442A) or Mechanical (433A) license
Welding experience

You'll report to the Service Manager and collaborate closely with our Service, Projects, and Supply Chain teams, a group of people who genuinely have each other's backs.
