We are currently seeking a Buyer for a contract assignment with a client operating a mine in Ontario. In this role, you will leverage your strong analytical skills and experience with SAP S/4HANA to support efficient and productive mining operations. In this role, you are responsible for the strategic procurement of goods, materials, and services to support mining operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role involves managing the full purchasing cycle, from vendor selection and negotiation to contract administration. This is a contract position with an initial term of 3+ months, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. The role is based at a fly-in/fly-out site on a 14x14 rotation. The pay rate is $48/hour plus overtime. Travel and accommodations are provided.
Main Accountabilities:
- Administer and process purchase orders (POs) for, consumables, and services, using SAP.
- Research potential suppliers, issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs/RFQs), and negotiate terms to ensure best value, quality, and delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages and expedite orders to ensure timely arrival at the mine site.
- Maintain and update contracts, including vendor pre-qualification and adherence to company policies.
- Build partnerships, monitor supplier performance, and resolve disputes regarding quality or invoicing.
- Adhere to safety regulations, environmental policies, and the company’s Code of Business Conduct.
- Work with internal departments (e.g., maintenance,, finance) to identify purchasing needs and resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a purchasing or buyer role, ideally within an industrial or mining environment.
- Proficiency with SAP (or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite. Must have SAP S4/Hana experience.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of mining-specific materials and experience in cross-cultural environments.
