Position Summary
Tetra-Chem Industries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Chemical Blender to join our blending team. The Junior Chemical Blender is responsible for accurately manufacturing chemical formulations according to established batch sheets, quality documents, safety protocols, and production schedules. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all products are produced safely, efficiently, and consistently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate is dependable, precise, process driven, has an excellent attention to detail, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Previous chemical blending experience is beneficial but not required, as training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Chemical Blending
· Manufacture chemical products according to approved formulations and batch records.
· Accurately measure, weigh, and add raw materials into mixing vessels and blending equipment.
· Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and production schedules.
· Monitor mixing times, temperatures, viscosities, pH levels, and other production parameters.
· Ensure all ingredients are added in the proper sequence and quantities.
· Operate blending tanks, mixers, pumps, transfer systems, and associated production equipment.
· Complete batch records and production documentation accurately and legibly.
· Assist with product transfers, packaging, and filling operations as required.
· Verify raw material lot numbers and quantities prior to production.
· Report any deviations, quality concerns, or equipment issues immediately to supervisors.
Quality Control
· Perform in-process quality checks and basic laboratory testing as directed.
· Collect production samples for quality assurance review.
· Verify finished products meet established specifications before release.
· Maintain traceability of all raw materials and finished goods.
· Assist in investigating product quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
· Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality management procedures.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
· Safely operate production and material handling equipment.
· Conduct routine equipment inspections prior to use.
· Clean blending tanks, pumps, hoses, and production equipment according to sanitation procedures.
· Assist with preventative maintenance activities.
· Identify and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization within the production area.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
· Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
· Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, goggles, face shields, and protective clothing.
· Understand and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical handling procedures.
· Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills.
· Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
· Assist with spill response and containment procedures when trained to do so.
· Maintain compliance with applicable environmental regulations and waste disposal procedures.
· Follow WHMIS requirements and chemical storage protocols.
Inventory & Material Handling
· Receive and verify incoming raw materials.
· Move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other approved equipment.
· Maintain accurate inventory records and material usage documentation.
· Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
· Ensure raw materials are properly labeled, stored, and rotated.
· Identify low inventory levels and notify supervisors.
Housekeeping & Facility Maintenance
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
· Perform daily housekeeping duties in production and warehouse areas.
· Keep aisles, workstations, and emergency exits clear.
· Assist with facility cleaning and maintenance projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Post-secondary education in chemistry, chemical technology, manufacturing, or a related field is considered an asset.
Experience
· Previous manufacturing, warehouse, chemical handling, or production experience preferred.
· Experience working with industrial chemicals is an asset.
· Experience operating forklifts or material handling equipment is required.
Knowledge & Skills
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Forklift certification.
· WHMIS certification.
· Ability to follow written instructions and production formulas.
· Basic math skills, including weights, measures, and calculations.
· Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
· Ability to complete production records accurately.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
· Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
· Comfortable working around industrial chemicals, odors, noise, and manufacturing equipment.
· Ability to work in varying temperature conditions within a manufacturing facility.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous chemical blending or manufacturing experience.
· Experience working within quality systems.
· Understanding of chemical measurement and mixing procedures.
· Basic computer skills for production reporting and inventory management.
