Derewlany Mini Carrots Ltd. currently has an opportunity for an experienced SQF Practitioner.
General Overview:
The SQF Practitioner is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program. This role ensures the organization complies with all applicable food safety regulations, SQF certification requirements, HACCP program, and internal quality procedures.
Typical Hours of work:
- Pre-production from June 1st to mid-July – 9:00am to 5:00pm,
- During regular production season from mid-July to end of November – 11:00am to approximately 9pm (until sanitation is completed),
- Post-production to end of maintenance from December to end of January – 9:00am to 5:00pm,
- Every other Saturday and additional time, as needed.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Implementing and maintaining the SQF System, including the Food Safety Program.
- Overseeing the validation and verification of HACCP and food safety procedures.
- Managing programs and traceability.
- Overseeing and actively participating in sanitation and the cleaning program on a daily basis.
- Reviewing, verifying, and maintaining food safety and quality records for compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Serving as the primary contact for audits, both internal and external.
- Developing and maintaining all necessary documentation and records.
- Providing orientation and food safety training to new and existing production employees.
- Responsible for maintaining the Health & Safety program.
The successful applicant will have the following:
- Demonstrated experience in food industry, with an understanding of the SQF programs (HACCP), GMPs, and regulatory requirements is an asset.
- SQF Practitioner certification or equivalent food safety certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in food processing, with the use of packaging line equipment and sanitation, is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
- Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Team-oriented mindset with demonstrated leadership ability.
- Availability to work days, evenings and weekends, are needed.
