Early Childhood Educator – Level 2 / Level 3Position Summary

Virsa G Daycare is seeking caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Level 2 and Level 3 Early Childhood Educators to join our team. The successful candidate will provide a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning activities.
Provide responsive and attentive care to children throughout the day.
Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and organized classroom environment.
Observe children's interests, development, and learning and document their progress.
Support children's individual needs, routines, and developmental goals.
Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, meals, snacks, rest periods, and transitions.
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, cooperation, and social-emotional development.
Maintain appropriate educator-to-child ratios and follow all licensing requirements.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and management.
Complete required attendance, incident, medication, and other childcare documentation accurately.
Follow daycare policies regarding health, safety, confidentiality, child guidance, emergency procedures, and infection prevention.
Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, organizing materials, and maintaining equipment.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, training, and daycare events.
Work collaboratively with other educators to provide consistent, high-quality care.

Qualifications

Valid Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 2 or Level 3 Certification.
Current First Aid and CPR certification suitable for childcare.
Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, as required.
Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate childcare practices.
Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with children and families.
Reliable, punctual, patient, caring, and professional.
Ability to work effectively in a busy childcare environment.

Additional Responsibilities for Level 3 Educators

Level 3 educators may also be expected to:

Provide leadership and mentorship to other educators.
Support program planning and implementation.
Assist with maintaining compliance with Alberta childcare licensing requirements.
Support classroom management and staff coordination.
Review observations, learning documentation, and programming practices.
Assist management or the Program Director with operational responsibilities when required.
Provide guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 educators regarding best practices and children's developmental needs.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to actively supervise young children, sit and work at children's level, participate in indoor and outdoor activities, and safely lift or assist children when necessary.
