Heavy Equipment Operator - Haul Truck Driver
Working under the Operations Manager and Project Supervisor(s). Shift rotations = 2 weeks in, 1 week out. Rotations alternate between Day Shifts and Night Shifts. OT after 55 hours. Benefits will be discussed during interview.
Roles and Responsibilities – Including but not limited to:
- Perform daily housekeeping of equipment.
- Operate in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
- Perform Field Level Risk Assessments (Task Card) prior to performing work.
- Conduct pre-operation checks of equipment.
- Perform a walk-around inspection before, during, and after every shift, and report any discrepancies to your supervisor.
- Complete daily logs and daily reports on delays, production, and safety issues as applicable.
- Identify, report, and correct hazards.
- Punctuality.
- Operate and control equipment safely in varying ground conditions.
- Hauling material in a 40T-65T rock truck.
- Loading and dumping materials.
- Smoothly operating machine controls.
- Follow supervisor and production tasks.
- Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing, and repair of equipment to further their abilities.
- Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).
- Ensure professional radio use at all times.
Qualifications/Requirements - Including but not limited to:
- Knowledge and experience of dumping and hauling procedures considered an asset.
- Minimum of 1-year operating experience in mining industry considered an asset.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Good motor skills and eye hand coordination.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work quickly, safely, and independently.
- Valid Drivers License Preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines for construction sites.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication (English) and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and in a safe manner.
- Ability to cope with production pressures and prioritize safety.
- Able to work rotations and camp site job.
- Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, uneven terrain, and varying conditions).
- Able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation - must be physically fit. (no previous injuries that can worsen, as this position requires sitting for long periods and bumpy/uneven roads).
- Ability to operate, sit, or stand for long periods while operating on uneven terrain.
- Able to ascend and descend equipment throughout the shift.
- Able and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
- Willing to learn and take direction.
- Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
