Full job description

McConnell Transport Ltd is seeking a Staff Accountant. As Staff Accountant you will be a key member of our accounting and administration team. You will be responsible for supporting the accounts payable, payroll, and receivables team for our group of companies as well as assisting the Controller team with other duties.

To be successful in this opportunity you must be able to perform and complete a variety of tasks within a team environment and independently. You must be able to achieve high-performance levels and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Below is a snapshot of your responsibilities and contributions to the team.

Maintain and update accounting records and files.
Support the accounts payable, payroll, and receivable employees.
Tax payments and returns.
Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g., by assets, liabilities, and expenses)
Reconcile bank statements and credit cards.
Meet all reporting and processing deadlines.
Assist in conducting month-end and year-end closures.
Prepare documents for audits.
Make sure that the financial books are kept orderly and accurate.
Report to the Controller and work to improve financial processes.

Job Skills/ Qualifications:

Must have a minimum 2-year similar experience.

Proficient with Microsoft, specifically Excel. Experience with Truckmate considered a asset.

Candidate will be attentive to detail, have the ability to collaborate with a team and also work independently with little instruction.
