Junior Archaeologist
The Organization:
A.E.W. LP was formed in 2017 by Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council member communities to carry out “on the ground” work related to archaeology, the environment and wildlife protection. This work has been made necessary by activities of others within the Nlaka’pamux homeland including transportation, mining, forestry, oil and gas, and utilities projects. The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is not opposed to development within our homeland, but developments and activities must be consistent with Nlaka’pamux title and rights.

The Role:
A.E.W. Limited Partnership is seeking a fixed term Junior Archaeologist based in Kamloops, BC. This is a 6-month term position. The Junior Archaeologist supports A.E.W. LP’s Archaeology Department by providing hands-on technical assistance for archaeology and cultural heritage projects throughout the BC interior region. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals building their professional experience in the field of archaeology.
- Conduct background research
- Assist with planning and logistics for field projects
- Conduct survey and shovel testing
- Record and maintain accurate field notes
- Collect and log GPS data
- Assist with site mapping
- Assist with evaluative unit excavations

Requirements:
- Graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or an undergraduate degree with equivalent experience
- Experience identifying, recording and evaluating the full range of archaeological site types
- Possess a current and valid Canadian Driver’s License.
