We are seeking two Deskside Support Technicians to support a large-scale device migration initiative within an active mine operations environment in Kamloops, BC.
The successful candidates will provide Tier 1/Tier 2 onsite technical support as users and devices are migrated from an existing legacy environment to a new platform/domain. This is a hands-on, high-volume deployment role focused on completing device migrations efficiently while minimizing disruption to business and mine operations.
Shift Length: Approximately 10–12 hours; early morning and evening coverage may be required
- Perform high-volume migration of end-user devices from the existing environment to the new platform/domain.
- Support the migration and configuration of laptops, handheld devices and other mobile/end-user devices.
- Complete Microsoft Intune enrollment and device configuration activities according to established procedures.
- Validate device connectivity, access, applications and functionality following migration.
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 deskside support to users before, during and immediately following device migration.
- Assist users with login, authentication, connectivity, application access and other common post-migration issues.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, software and device configuration issues.
- Follow documented migration runbooks, procedures, checklists and deployment instructions.
- Escalate technical issues that fall outside established procedures to the appropriate project or technical support team.
- Track migration progress and accurately document completed devices, issues, exceptions and escalations.
- Support a big-bang deployment approach in which multiple sites may be actively migrating concurrently.
- Work closely with project leads and other deployment resources to maintain migration schedules and minimize operational disruption.
- Provide clear and professional onsite support to end users throughout the transition.
- Previous experience providing Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 deskside or end-user computing support.
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows laptops and end-user devices.
- Experience with device deployment, migration, refresh or rollout projects.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, including device enrollment and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting mobile or handheld devices is an asset.
- Strong basic troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, connectivity and user-access issues.
- Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and execute repetitive tasks accurately and consistently.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills when assisting end users.
- Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation and work effectively with senior technical resources.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document migration activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume deployment environment.
This project will support active mine operations and will require flexibility in scheduling.
- Multiple shifts will be scheduled to align with mine operating requirements.
- Technicians should be prepared to work approximately 10–12 hour shifts.
- Early morning and/or evening coverage may be required.
- Deployment activities may occur concurrently across multiple sites as part of a big-bang migration approach.
- Candidates must be comfortable performing a high volume of similar migration activities throughout each shift.
- The initial project duration is expected to be approximately two weeks; however, resources should ideally have availability for an extension of up to six or seven weeks depending on migration progress.
