The Marketing & Communications Coordinator supports the Brand and Marketing team in the execution of day-to-day marketing and communications initiatives that position Kamloops as a premier destination, including digital communications, stakeholder communications, and campaign support.
This execution-focused role is responsible for coordinating and delivering marketing activities across digital, content, and communications channels. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator ensures that projects and tasks are well-organized, on schedule, and completed efficiently, providing critical support that allows senior team members to focus on strategic planning, creative direction, and high-impact initiatives.
By executing daily initiatives and campaigns, maintaining organization, and keeping projects moving, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in bringing campaigns, communication initiatives, content, and partnerships to life, ensuring consistency and timelines across all marketing and communications efforts. Reporting to the Director, Brand and Marketing, and working closely with other departments, this role serves as a backbone for the team, enabling the department to operate smoothly and effectively.
Duties + Responsibilities
Marketing and Digital Execution
- Complete website updates using CMS platforms (e.g., Simpleview), including copy, images, and page edits
- Support social media execution across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn, including scheduling, posting, and monitoring
- Assist with organizing and maintaining digital assets through platforms such as CrowdRiff and internal content libraries
- Upload and optimize video content to YouTube, including titles, descriptions, tagging, and basic performance tracking
- Support paid and organic B2B marketing initiatives, including LinkedIn content and campaign setup
Content and Campaign Coordination
- Assist in the coordination and execution of marketing campaigns and storytelling initiatives
- Collect, organize, and manage content and assets from partners, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Ensure campaign materials are properly stored, organized, and accessible
- Support communication and coordination with tourism partners, stakeholders, vendors, and community organizations related to marketing and communications initiatives
Communications Support
- Monitor and support Tourism Kamloops’ corporate social media channels, including scheduling, posting, and community monitoring
- Assist with industry blogs, storytelling, and content writing
- Draft and support press releases, media list management, communications monitoring, and media follow-up coordination
- Assist with compiling research, summarizing data insights, and supporting written summaries, reports, or storytelling content
- Assist with monthly industry newsletters and stakeholder communications
- Provide support with events calendar management and updates
- Assist with website and CMS updates across tourismkamloops.com and related platforms
- Maintain and update CRM contacts and stakeholder databases
- Support Value of Tourism campaign initiatives and related communications
Destination Development & Team Support
- Provide administrative and coordination support to the Destination Development team as needed
- Assist with project coordination, partner communication, and document preparation for larger organizational initiatives
- Support event-related contracts, coordination, and tracking as required
- Provide general cross-departmental support during major projects and peak periods
Reporting and Coordination
- Support campaign tracking and reporting using GA4 and internal dashboards
- Maintain marketing calendars, project trackers, and timelines
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure deliverables are met on time
- Support coordination across internal departments to help maintain alignment on timelines, priorities, and project deliverables
Experience & Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, tourism, or a related field
- Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, or a related discipline is an asset
- Experience with social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., Simpleview) and Adobe products is an asset
- Experience with Canva and presentation development tools
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support across functions
