The Content Specialist plays a key role in bringing the Tourism Kamloops brand to life through compelling, strategic content that inspires visitation from domestic, national, and international audiences. Reporting to the Director, Marketing + Brand, this 13-month term position is responsible for planning, creating, managing, and optimizing content across Tourism Kamloops' owned channels, including social media, the website, email marketing, blogs, and other digital and print marketing materials.
Working collaboratively across the marketing, visitor experience, and sales teams, the Content Specialist ensures content supports organizational priorities, destination marketing campaigns, and visitor engagement goals. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing content, identifying opportunities to repurpose assets, and using performance insights to continuously improve content effectiveness.

Duties + Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and monitor social media content across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and other emerging channels as appropriate.
- Manage Tourism Kamloops' online communities, including monitoring comments and feedback, responding as appropriate, and supporting a positive and welcoming environment for followers to engage with Tourism Kamloops.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to execute paid and organic social media campaigns.
- Execute influencer and travel media partnerships, including outreach, coordination, content planning, and timeline management.
- Coordinate the creation and deployment of monthly newsletters to consumers subscribed to learn more about Tourism Kamloops via Mailchimp.
- Create, update, and optimize blog content to ensure it remains engaging, relevant, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Work collaboratively with the marketing team to prepare content and assets for seasonal and campaign initiatives.
- Assist with photo and video content collection and preparation as requested by the Marketing Manager.
- Update and edit content on the Tourism Kamloops website as needed.
- Work with digital platforms such as Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, CrowdRiff Creators, and CrowdRiff UGC.
- Monitor the performance of content and make optimization recommendations based on data and performance insights.
- Ensure all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice.
- Work closely with colleagues, ensuring that key messages are shared on relevant channels based on each project's audience and business objectives.
- Stay current on content marketing trends, emerging platforms, and tools, including the thoughtful use of AI, and recommend opportunities where appropriate.
- Build effective relationships with external stakeholders and vendors through strong communication, negotiation, and expectation management.
- Perform other duties as required.
Experience & Skills
- Post-secondary education in business, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- At least three (3) years of related experience in content creation, communications, marketing, or a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience writing and developing content for a brand across channels such as articles, social media, email, and web.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Strong written communication and editing skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience using social media, email marketing, content management, and/or digital marketing platforms.
- Ability to use performance data and insights to inform and improve content.
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
- Adaptability and curiosity, with an interest in emerging content trends, platforms, and tools.
- Experience in the tourism industry is considered an asset.
