Salary range for the position is $90,770 to $130,481. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
How will you create an impact:
The Lead, Research Navigation assists the IH Research Leadership Team and provides leadership and implementation support for the conduct of research (both clinical and non-clinical research) in compliance with applicable regulations, contractual agreements, and quality standards. The Lead, working with the Research Managers, Principal Investigators and Clinical Research Coordinators, will have responsibility for training and guidance and optimizing Interior Health’s performance in feasibility assessment, trial activation and implementation, recruitment and enrollment, data collection and quality management, and close out. The Lead will also work in collaboration with key interested parties both internal and external to the organization to support wayfinding for internal/external parties to navigate requirements for engaging in research activities in IH.
What will you work on:
- Provides leadership, guidance, and day to day support to departmental clinical research staff to promote performance, efficiency, and adherence to contractual requirements, study protocols and budgets, regulatory standards, and research ethics. Identifies and communicates performance or compliance concerns to the appropriate Manager, Research Department.
- Supports Research Managers by providing guidance to IH Research staff (including Clinical Research Coordinators and contracted team-members) for new and existing studies to ensure that studies are operating in accordance with Sponsor, regulatory and ethical expectations for timeliness and quality.
- Supports the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key clinical research activities to ensure regulatory compliance and standardized, efficient business processes. Identifies corrective actions in response to protocol, regulatory, or SOP deviations and preventative actions in cases where the potential for non-compliance is identified.
- Ensures that Clinical Research staff are trained in accordance with their job requirements. Provides mentorship to Clinical Research staff and participates in the development of educational symposia, workshops, and training tools.
- Fosters effective working relationships with staff, physicians, Managers, external partners and customers, and involvement on interdisciplinary teams.
- Provides guidance to internal and external research parties on navigating Interior Health (IH) research processes (e.g., ethics and operational approvals), supporting the initiation and conduct of research studies across IH facilities.
- Represents Interior Health (IH) and Clinical Research interests on regional, provincial, and national committees, working groups, and at external events, actively contributing to collaboration, planning, and sector engagement.
- Supports review of study-specific budgets and anticipates relevant operational costs based on the study protocol to assist contract negotiations.
- Maintains and fosters a positive and productive work environment respecting the value of an interdisciplinary team approach to the provision of all Research services.
- Participates in the development and maintenance of a Quality Management System (QMS) for the Clinical Research Department in collaboration with the Quality Committee members.
- In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
