We’re looking for a Linehaul Owner Operator who is ready to roll and has already logged some serious miles. At Van-Kam Freightways, we believe in giving our drivers more than just a job, We offer a place to grow, feel valued, and be a part of a team that keeps things moving.
About Us:
Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting pre-trip and post trip inspections.
- When necessary, assist with loading/unloading trailer.
- Reporting any issues promptly.
- Complying with all regulations regarding transportation and hours of service.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with Dispatch team members and provide outstanding customer service.
- Must comply with all transportation and safety regulation as required.
- Uphold security standards at all times.
- This position requires working on Highway 37.
What gets you in the driver’s seat:
- You are a heavy hauler owner operator!
- Valid Class 1 Drivers License is required
- Flat Deck hauling experience is required (mix of van & deck work available).
- Newer model heavy spec'd highway truck is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of Northern winter driving experience is required.
- Ability to drive at night is required
- Northern Mine heavy hauling experience is required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
- Must be able to handle with adverse weather conditions and chain up fully as weather indicates.
- Commitment to transportation regulations as well as customer on-site regulations or rules.
