Job Summary
Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation (SXFN) is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and motivated Principal to lead Rosie Seymour Elementary Secondary School (RSESS),

RSESS is a First Nation–operated school located in Canoe Creek, BC.and follows the BC school curriculum working with First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) and First Nations Schools Association (FNSA) to support our students.

Rosie Seymour has an enrollment of 16 students with primary and intermediate multi-grade splits (grades K4-3) (grades 4-7) and is located in Stswecemc (Canoe Creek), BC, a semi-remote community about an hour’s drive west of Clinton, accessible by gravel road.

SXFN territory offers an incredible outdoor lifestyle with easy access to fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing and the Fraser River is just a 10-kilometre drive from the community.

Duties

Provide visionary leadership to staff, students, and the community to achieve educational goals.
Develop and implement school policies, curricula, and instructional strategies aligned with educational standards.
Manage school budgets effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
Supervise hiring, training, and evaluation of teachers and administrative staff.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment conducive to learning and personal growth.
Collaborate with parents, community members, and stakeholders to support student achievement.
Oversee student discipline, attendance, and overall school operations.
Lead professional development initiatives to enhance teaching quality and staff leadership skills.

Requirements

Proven experience in educational leadership or administration, preferably as a Principal or similar role.
Strong background in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and inspire educators.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and build consensus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are preferred.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports diversity and equity in education. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives while leading a dedicated team committed to academic excellence.
Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience as a Senior Teacher or Principal
Experience with BC Curriculum (Kindergarten to Grade 10)
Experience integrating educational technology into teaching practices
Experience working in a Band‑Operated School is an asset

Pay: $72,911.00-$109,520.00 per year
