Temporary Financial Controller
The Jilly Box is a purpose-led quarterly lifestyle subscription box and eCommerce platform. We are B Corp certified and one of Canada’s 2026 Top Small and Medium Employers. Our mission is to create opportunities for women-owned and equity-deserving small businesses to grow and thrive, and for women and families to experience joy through products that matter.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable Financial Controller to cover a maternity leave across The Jilly Box and the broader Jillian Harris group of companies. This is a rare opportunity to work across a dynamic, multi-brand, founder-led environment and to be a trusted financial partner to leadership during a period of strategic growth.
About the Companies
This role supports a family of purpose-driven, founder-led businesses:
- The Jilly Box Inc: Quarterly subscription box and eCommerce Market
- Jillian Harris Design Inc.: Influencer content and brand collaborations
- JJLA Farms: A truffle farm, with a subdivision for a house build and a potential future wedding venue
- JJLA Properties: Previously an Airbnb, now a long-term rental unit
- You will also support the group's holding, and family trust entities, giving you exposure to an unusually broad and interesting mix of operations.
The Opportunity
The Controller role is widely varied day to day with a mix of meetings, financial reporting, tax compliance, and project work. Projects might include data analysis, managerial accounting, or strategic thinking for new efficiencies and initiatives. A typical day could start with month-end tasks in the morning to forward-thinking financial analysis and ongoing projects in the afternoon.
Approximately 65% of your time supports The Jilly Box Inc., covering the full accounting cycle, inventory, cost accounting, and compliance. The remaining 35% supports the Jillian Harris group, covering group reporting, property and farm management, investment portfolio oversight, and personal/business expense analysis.

You’ll be part of a close-knit finance team of three to four: a Senior Accountant (your direct report), a full-time contractor Bookkeeper (your direct report),. Your manager will initially be our Director of Finance. When our CFO returns from her own leave in the new year, you will transition to reporting to her.
