Technical Service Manager Position
First Response Fire Protection Ltd. is looking for Technical Service Manager that must meet several key requirements across certifications, code Knowledge, and leadership skills.

In this role, you will provide advanced technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and professional judgment to ensure that operational service work meet all applicable safety requirements, standards, and assurance processes.
What you will be doing:
- Manage end-to-end First Response processes across assigned projects, ensuring activities align with the First Response strategy, internal standards, regulatory expectations, and project delivery milestones.
- Manage the development and maintenance of First Response documentation, including System Safety Plans, Hazard Logs, Safety Requirements Specifications, and Verification & Validation Fire Safety plans.
- Support Delivery Teams by planning and coordinating First Response activities within project schedules, identifying risks, tracking progress, and resolving issues related to safety assurance deliverables.
- Review technical designs and manage interdisciplinary interface inputs to ensure compatibility, integration, and alignment with safety requirements.
Skills and Qualifications we are looking for:
- ASTTBC Registration: You must be registered with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC). Specifically, you should hold a Registered Fire Protection Technician (RFPT) designation with endorsements.
- AL: Fire Alarm Systems
- EX: Portable Fire Extinguishers
- WA: Water-Based Fire Protection Systems (Sprinkler systems and hydrants)
- CFAA Certification: For fire alarms specifically, a Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) registration is highly preferred and often mandatory for high-level technical oversight.
- Trades Qualifications (Asset): A Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter designation or a Journeyman Electrician ticket is a massive asset for a manager overseeing water-based and electrical life-safety assets.
- BC Fire Code and BC Building Code: Understanding local amendments and how they apply to annual testing and building occupancies.
- NFPA Standards, FFP 25 standard for inspection, testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection Systems (critical for your sprinklers and hydrants).
- NFPA 10: Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers.
- CAN/ULC Standards: Particularly CAN/ULC-S536 (Inspection and Testing of Fire alarm systems) and CAN/ULC-S537 (Verification of Fire Alarm Systems).
- Highly developed problem-solving skills to analyze issues and provide solutions during the whole project lifecycle.
- Looking for 5+ years of hands-on field experience as a senior technician, plus 2 to 3 years in a supervisory or management role within the fire protection industry.
- Technician Dispatch and Mentorship: Scheduling, dispatching, and managing a team of field technicians. You will be responsible for quality control, auditing their work, and ensuring they comply with ASTTBC standard of Practice (SOP).
- Customer Consultation, explaining complex code requirements to building owners, property managers, and strata councils in a way that makes sense without drowning them in jargon.
A valid BC driver’s license is required to occasionally travel to various site locations. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.

Pay: $93,600.00-$120,640.00 per year
