Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

The Recovery Coordinator leads securing financial recovery and other restitution when third parties have caused harm or expense to the City. Working with a wide variety of City staff and external stakeholders they collect information, provide guidance on processes to maximize future financial recovery, and assist with the response to adverse events, to secure restitution as appropriate.

Duties - Union

Researches and recommends policies and practices that prevent losses and enhance the city’s ability to recover costs associated with the adverse actions, errors, or negligence of others.
Investigate events that result financial loss to the City; determines recovery options and takes action to secure financial recovery, including collection of relevant data & evidence.
Coordinates litigation, subrogation and other legal processes involved in recovery of losses.
Coordinates with internal and external parties during emergency events to enhance future recovery.
Supports departmental programs such as: corporate business continuity, enterprise risk management, security systems and loss prevention.
Assists with claims management, self-insured losses, and damage to civic property.
Supports project managers & departments in the recovery and resolution of project deficiencies, contractual non-performance, development deficiencies & damage to civil infrastructure.
Provides relevant information for performance measurement reporting.
Understands legal and regulatory frameworks.
Liaises with City staff, participates in committees and conducts site visits to ensure information and findings are presented consistent with corporate needs and context.
